Ode to Holden

Rated: R ( For use of strong language.)

Don’t read any further in this post if you are a goody-good kitsch asshole. I have posted many others for people like you but this one goes out as homage to Holden Caulfield.

If you are reading this then you probably know what a blog is and in all likelihood you'll have one of your own. You often wonder that why your blog isn't as popular as some of the other pretentious bastards on the net who have got nothing else to do but brag about their stupid mundane life or voice their opinions about things that they can do nothing about. Then why do you do it? The simplest reason for this is the fact that as humans you are craving for attention and have a belief that you are the centre of the universe. You give too much importance to yourselves. You are part of a generation that has been raised by television commercials to run after things which do not make much sense but are a status symbol in the society. The whole fuss about a 1 GB GMAIL account all over the tech savvy community proves it. I know that you are lying if you say you never wished for a GMAIL account. In all probability you would have mailed your friends for it, contacted complete strangers requesting for it, posted petitions on various blogs, yahoo groups and orkut communities. Just look inside and try to answer to yourself, "Why do I need a 1 GB email account?" I doubt that the most common answer will be something other than status symbol.

Why is it that you can’t accept the harsh realities of life? Why is it that you are always looking for other people to approve your actions? Why do you give a fuck to what other people say about you?

I reread this post and changed all the WEs and Is to YOUs so that it makes a better impact. I am also a part of the same ostentatious world you live in and think like you do. And if there are some people who are still looking for GMAIL invites, mail me your full name and email address, I have got 5 left.

Handa... i think you can write a blog without the keywords you have used in it. Good writings don't need these keywords as ingredients. and about GMAIL, yes ..it is a status symbol may be a for a few days but not when it is launched..then everyone will be having it..
As rightly said, this blog of yours containing strong words is not more than but a craving for more attention which you are not getting as compared to other blogs.
and vying for attention and trying to centre of universe is no bad thing. After all, that what life's all about. you, studying in IIT, is just because you want to reach big heights in which IIT tag wil help you out.
anyway.. thanx for the gmail invite you sent me . I have already started using this account for my yahoo group mails.

After trying hard to get the much-hyped-Gmail account for 8 dark hours, using my best of the creative imagination to please the big-bros and making 'requests-cum-plea" at several wesites..i finally managed to get many.Being no exception, posted a mail in dep-yahoo-grp abt getting the invitation and generously offered invitations to some.No doubt, this was giving me a different kind of feeling of being spl. two days later, when I woke up, My philosophical self took control of me and I had the same feeling -: why the fuck I am so considerate abt being important and let ppl approve it. your feelings, I guess , is the outcome of such an state of mind when u feel urself above all the worldly things ;-)

Ravi, nice comment about we all writing blogs to attract attention.
I have another story to tell. Publishing thoughts and opinions helps me accept myself better, I can validate my own thoughts much more by publishing them, not fearing what others will think of me when they read what I write and how I write it. It is infact a step towards liberation from approval seeking.
It's publicity for the sake of not needing publicity, the same way global warming can bring back the Ice Age!!
Nice blog BTW!!

Hello,
First of all, thanks to all of you who posted comments.
Amit, even I dont like to use profanities much but sometimes it becomes necessary to let out the feelings.
SK, I identify with you and its true that the feelings you mentioned were the reason behind this post.
Schrodinger, I seriously HATE your name and the reason is, Quantam Physics was something that I could never understand. But I do agree with what you have said.
Nupur, well you are the only one with whom I disagree. GMAIL rocks!! Its not only the 1 GB factor but one of the best User Interfaces on the net. There are some bugs in it but thats because its the BETA version and when the full version comes out they will be fixed.
I would also like to say that I have ran out of GMAIL invites but you can still mail me your address because if I get anymore I would send them to you.
To KGPians (My college buddies), IDIOTS!! Koi comment post karo yaaaar !!!

thanks for visiting my blog, ravi.

well i guess the hype around gmail is the status. we all undertand the world of a difference it is to own a 1gb gmail account or a 1gb rediffmail account... or even for tht matter- 100 mb on yahoo. i needn't elaborate on this, as u already have!
